OK, people. Here's one that will make you proud to be a human...

I've never been much of a "Black Friday" shopper, choosing to avoid what sounded like a silly rush for bargains. But last night my wife asked if I'd mind stopping by a local store this morning to pick up a couple of Christmas decorations. I thought, "What the heck, I'll be out and about at 6 AM anyway, so I'll drop by and get the stuff."

When I arrived at this local store at about 5:45 AM, I was amazed to see a line that extended not only across the full length of the front of this building, but around the far side, as well! I was stunned to see just how much time people were willing to spend standing in freezing weather before dawn, just to get 20% off that inflatable penguin for the front yard. Or a 300 piece drill bit set. Or the camouflaged soft shotgun case....

I waited until the herd started moving, then got out of my car and walked over just in time to be jostled inside with the last of the stragglers. I saw people greedily scooping up their limit of whatever items they could find from the current circular, and found that the items I was after were not really a good deal. (They were among the items whose prices were not listed, but we were assured the 20% savings was huge.)

So, I got a couple of things we needed anyway, and then waited a good 40 minutes in line to pay for them, realizing too late that I could have gotten them anytime, without subjecting myself to this ordeal.

BUT..........

Had I seen the article I saw upon returning home before I left, I'd have crawled back into bed, shivering.....

NEW YORK (Nov. 28) - A worker was killed in the crush Friday after a throng of shoppers eager for post-Thanksgiving bargains burst through the doors at a suburban WalMart.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," co-worker Jimmy Overby, 43, told the Daily News. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too. ... I literally had to fight people off my back."

"A metal portion of the door was crumpled like an accordion."

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead,"

"People were still coming through."

I read this article with growing disgust, realizing that people really will kill each other to get a bargain. Sad, but true.

Here's the entire article:

yeah, i know tdg...i'm disgusted at this...just as i am every year. i'm not a black friday shopper...and so very thankful i don't work retail. ugh...people...GROW UP!!!!!! #1 Christmas isn't about what you can get or buy...take the "mas" off the end and eventually you'll figure it out. #2 Saving a few bucks on an already overpriced piece of crap isn't worth participating in the stampede with all the other greedy SOB's, lookin' a fool, and killin' peeps. very sad holiday for this poor guy and his family...i can't imagine how they are feeling :(
wait...didn't i just talk to you about a week ago and you told me about how you shower your kids with gifts for both birthdays AND christmas?.....but now you are talking about how it is not about the material things?...sounds like a contradiction to me...

but...i have to say...saying one thing and doing another...you really are learning a lot in that tuesady class....they are teaching how to do i just like the rest of them...

congratulations...
blah blah blah yada yada yada whatever davey bear...go ahead and THINK you know what you're talking about...I'll letcha...'cause I love ya like that. and btw...thanks for being such a great friend :) ((hugs))
is that the best you got jessica?......come on..i thought i would get more out of you than that....don't let me down...
gee dave...i wouldn't wanna let you down. it's just that your usual position ( "devil's advocate" or "one who pushes another's button's just to get a rise out of them") has become predictable, boring...and a lil' stale. friend to friend? it's time for you to try something new and fresh. *muah*

I myself hardly see such situations. Black Friday was transferred to the vastness of online stores mainly. Do you remember when you bought something in a real store (other than groceries)?

A difficult question .. Most often it is more convenient for me to order on Amazon. There is a large selection. My mother is engaged in clothing and works with private customers. So ... she thought and decided to contact this agency - https://saphira.agency/ They developed a concept to adapt her business to the Amazon site. This really boosted her sales. Now she hired a sewing assistant)) Now do you understand what the power of the Internet is?

I've always been scared of black Fridays and have never visited them because of crowds insane people

I am not a fan of Black Friday and all that stuff, to be honest.. As for me, I just prefer shopping at online stores like GotApparel.com and something like that. They always have some good and interesting deals which let me get the best clothes at great prices. Check it out, I am sure that you will find it interesting to you too, good luck!
