American Cancer Society Relay For Life - 100 Miles!

It's May and time once again for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. "The Survivors" will return for another 24 hour trek around the Wayne County Fairgrounds.

This year, team member Dave Snow has a special goal in mind.

Dave has committed to breaking 100 miles within the 24 hour relay.

This will require Dave to keep up a 4-5 mile an hour pace for the entire 24 hours.

If Dave accomplishes this goal, he will walk the equivalent of 1,760 football fields. He will take over 200,000 steps, and burn over 10,000 calories. He only has the 24 hour window to break 100 miles.

This will not be an easy feat, but Dave is determined he can accomplish this very lofty goal.

Dave has made clear that if he does not break 100 miles in the alloted 24 hours, he will match every dollar donated to The Survivors PLUS he will walk a lap in his underwear. So every dollar you donate, puts more pressure on Dave.

Dave is already training for this unprecedented stunt, and he certainly needs your support. He has also been told by some medical personnel that this is not the best of ideas. It will require an unbelievable amount of stamina and will power.

We took a second to ask Dave why he decided to take on this challenge:

"I am doing this to raise awareness for the event. Every year I go to the relay and am inspired by all the positive attitudes and great people. They have overcome great adversity to be there. I want to do something special to really show what overcoming adversity is all about. Everyone should go to the relay and be inspired by all the wonderful people that are there."
