Skanect 1.9 (with Structure Sensor) 3D Scanning Review This review of the Skanect 3D scanning software has been a long time coming and is one of the most-requested ones, too. One of the first 3D scanners I reviewed was the Structure Sensor.

Charging your Structure Sensor. To preserve the battery life of your iPad, Structure Sensor has its own internal battery. Charging your Structure Sensor's battery is simple: Connect the supplied Power Adapter to the barrel jack (aka the rounded port) on the side of the Structure Sensor, and then plug the other end into any standard 2-pronged wall outlet as found in the United States (if you're Skanect allows you to use the CPU or GPU for the reconstruction process, remember that a stronger PC will take less time to reconstruct your model. Click "Run". After Skanect has finished reconstructing the model go to the Process tab. Here you will have various options to edit your scan, or you can just leave it as it is. Start by exporting your Skanect scan file (for more info on creating scans, see this past post and this tutorial by Skanect) as an OBJ file. Once you've exported the OBJ file, you'll notice that Skanect has made three files for you: an OBJ, an MTL, and a PNG. It's not going to have the accuracy of the pros, but it's not going to have the price ($2k+!) of the pros, either.
