My experience throughout these years is that tendering websites like upwork, freelancers and the others mentioned are not places where professional translators get near enough to feel the smell, due to the low fees offered and the fact they allow the entrance of amateurs faking as translators, people without the minimum requirements to pose even as a novice. These people have downgraded the term freelancer to the point where professionals don’t like to call themselves freelancers because they can be misconceived, and have caused much damage to the translation market accepting fees that are not better than those paid to a burger flipper.
