Richmond Parks and Rec Harvest Fest

Richmond Parks and Recreation invites families to Roosevelt Hill in Glen Miller Park on Saturday, October 17 from 5:00-9:00pm for Harvest Fest, a benefit event and spaghetti dinner that will help raise money for park programs and events. The spaghetti dinner, catered by Fazoli’s Italian Restaurant, will be served from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm followed by a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. The benefit will conclude with a family friendly movie beginning at 7:30pm.

Among the festivities planned for the night, which include live musical entertainment provided by Garcia and Scott and children’s activities, is a presentation from Bill Thistlethwaite, who assumed the position of Park Superintendent in May of this year. His presentation will address services offered to the community and upcoming plans from the department. Additionally there will be a 1.5 mile Family Fun Run/Walk at 4:00 pm upon completion of which all participants will receive a ribbon. Registration information will be sent home with all area students in the coming weeks, and will also be available the day of the event.

Tickets for Harvest Fest are $10.00 and can be purchased during business hours at the Park Administration Office in Glen Miller Park, Mayor Hutton’s Office, and the office of G101-3. The programs and events that will benefit from Harvest Fest proceeds are those offered to the community for free. These events include the summer concert series, Family Fun Fest and the Just Us Kids Outdoors (JUKO) day camp, among numerous others.
